Food Works CSA

csaflyer.jpgFood Works 2015 CSA is Sold Out

Please check back in the fall for early registration for 2016 season. If you’re looking for a CSA check out Portland Area CSA Coalition for a list of local farms.

Our CSA is designed for folks who want to support the Food Works program as well as receive great farm fresh produce! For 21 weeks, from mid June through the end of October (Starting June 11), you’ll pick up your weekly share of beautiful, local, organic produce at one of four drop sites. You’ll also be supporting low income families in North Portland to receive the same beautiful, local, organic produce at a subsidized rate.

How much does it cost?

The 21 week CSA share is $600. We think that this is a great value for the amount of local organic produce you will receive. You’ll also be supporting low income families in Portland to receive the same beautiful, local, organic produce at a subsidized rate. Our base rate is $450, with the additional $150 dollars (tax deductible) we will be able to offer the same CSA share to a family who might not be able afford the full price. The remainder of the cost will be paid with the SNAP benefits from participating families.

snapUse your SNAP benefits to pay for your CSA!

The 21 week CSA share is $15 a week when using your SNAP benefits, that’s a total of $315 for the season. SNAP payment can be used at the following drop sites:

  • Portland State Farmers Market (Saturday, Downtown Portland)
  • St. Johns Farmers Market (Saturday, St. Johns)
  • Village Market (Wednesday, St. Johns)

Using your SNAP benefits is as simple as swiping your card at both of our farmers markets information booths, receiving tokens, then bringing your tokens to the Food Works stall to pick up your share. At the Village Market, just use your SNAP benefits at the counter to pay each week each when you pick up your share.

Testimony from our CSA members:

“MUCH better than previous CSAs that I have participated in. Everything was *super* fresh.”

“Always fantastic: fresh, not even anything that was past its prime, and with just the right amount of dirt / imperfections to make it feel like you’re eating real food. Am going to miss it until next year.”

“Great variety of produce, seeing the students working at the market, great value.”
